From April 2021 – as part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee Initiative – if you are aged 19 or over and do not already have a full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to an advanced technical certificate/diploma or A level) you can now access a FREE Level 3 qualification.

The list of courses available under the initiative has been designed to help you:

  • gain qualifications that are needed and valued by employers
  • improve your job prospects
  • progress in work
  • earn a good wage

At Weymouth College we currently have a variety of qualifying courses available as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee initiative in areas including accounting, construction and the built environment, carpentry, bricklaying, engineering, electrical installation, early years and public services together with a range of maths and science-based AS Levels.

What courses are available under the Lifetime Skills initiative?

You can access one of these free Level 3 courses if you are aged 19 or over and want to achieve your first level 3 qualification.

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting

Electrical Installation

Site Carpentry

Brickwork

Construction and the Built Environment

Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)

Mechanical Engineering

Business

Public Services

Assessing Vocational Achievement

Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

 

Advanced Subsidiary GCEs

Mathematics

Physics

Biology

Chemistry

 

Some courses may have admission criteria – for example, you may need to have studied a particular subject before at a lower level – details can be found on the individual course pages. Course places are limited.

 

Other courses

Level 3 NVQ Diplomas in Trowel Occupations and Wood Occupations may also be available to study under the initiative – depending upon employer and role criteria being met – please contact us for further details.

You can make a course application now online.

Simply visit  the course page you are interested in and click Apply now.
