The study of creative subjects gives a great foundation in problem solving, and innovative thinking which is highly prized in a professional workplace. Our teaching ethos and the structure of our courses encourages and supports a broad, experimental approach which provides our students with excellent skills to take forward into the creative industries. Our students are taught using excellent traditional, state of the art and experimental facilities, such as; print studio, textiles workshop, 3D workshop with wood, metal and resin facilities, a 3D printer and large bed laser cutter, an Apple Mac suite carrying industry standard software, photographic studio and dark room and a large, dedicated drawing and painting studio.
When you study in the Visual Arts department you will be taught techniques, processes and skills by specialist staff which you will use to develop projects that fulfil your own ambitions. We encourage engagement in live projects and experiences, including international, national and local trips, talks from visiting artists, life drawing with model and professional standard student exhibitions. Our artist in residence programme is there to support professional development with advice and guidance on your current projects and future intentions.
