Travel and Tourism is not just a job for me, but a passion. After leaving school I completed an apprenticeship in retail travel, and then worked in various agencies in Weymouth, Yeovil and Australia. I have been lucky enough to travel all around the world with my career and highlights include trekking the Inca trail to Machu Pichu with the Dorset Expeditionary Society, whale watching on the west coast of Canada and travelling and working throughout Australia. I have experience in running hospitality businesses and have also worked in hotels in the UK and abroad. Following 23 years in the industry I joined Weymouth College in 2008 and now teach across the Travel and Tourism and Business courses.

When I was young I loved looking through travel brochures and helping to choose and cost our family holidays.  I knew I wanted to work in travel and I studied for an apprenticeship – a hands on and practical way to study. I worked in a travel agency for 20 years – progressing to Assistant Manager – and travelled the world sharing my first-hand experiences with my customers. I now enjoy sharing my passion, knowledge and experience with our students and teach a wide range of units on Level 2 and Level 3 Travel & Tourism and units of the HNC and HND in Business. I especially enjoy seeing the students move forward after college and feel proud as I see them progressing their careers within the industry. I have never lost my passion for travelling and particularly enjoy cruise holidays!
