Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)

Cost – £45

This half day course is vital for anyone expecting to work in an environment using hazardous materials. The course will look at providing knowledge needed to identify and correctly manage hazardous substances; understanding a Material Safety Data Sheet; understanding the process of a COSHH assessment in relation to your workplace; knowledge of the correct and appropriate precautions to take in the workplace.

Fire Safety Awareness

Cost – £45

This half day course is purpose-made to provide training in Fire Safety legislation and the practical and safe use of any and all firefighting equipment. Fire is one of the greatest safety risks to a business, and this course is an ideal measure to prepare for such an eventuality.

It is delivered at the Cranford Avenue College site, with free parking available on site.

Fire Safety and the Duties of a Fire Marshall

Cost £70

This is a one day course and the qualification is suitable for someone who has responsibility in the workplace to undertake fire safety requirements. It will provide learners with the knowledge to carry out designated duties as a Fire Warden/Marshall. The qualification will also increase fire safety awareness for all employees.

The qualification covers fire hazards, risk assessment, control of fire in the workplace and duties of both employers and employees.

Health and Safety Awareness

Cost – £45

This half-day course is an effective introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit any worker, in any industry or sector and accommodates induction training for the new employee very well.

The subject matter includes:

– Understanding the importance of health, safety and welfare standards in the workplace.
– Knowing how hazards and risks are controlled in the workplace.
– Being aware of the main causes and effects of poor health and safety at work.
– Understanding how health and safety information is communicated in the workplace.

Level 2 Health and Safety

Cost – £70

Delivered through the Dorset Training Academy, this one-day course is ideal for those wishing to develop knowledge of health and safety issues in the workplace and the legislation and regulations relating to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.

This course will highlight common hazards and effective control measures. It will help you work more safely and be more aware of how your own actions can affect the health and safety of others, and will enable you to contribute meaningfully to any occupational health and safety management systems which offer transferability to other jobs.

You will also learn about risk profiling and its contribution to health and safety, incident reporting and emergency procedures.

It includes the following:

  • Introduction to occupational health and safety
  • Risk assessment
  • Common workplace hazards and controls
  • Incident report and emergency procedures

The one-day course is a minimum of 6 contact hours, and will be delivered at the Cranford Avenue College site, with free parking available and refreshments and lunch provided.  Training can be delivered on site to meet business needs, please contact us to discuss a pre-course assessment of your premises.

Level 3 Health and Safety

Cost – £250

Delivered through the Dorset Training Academy, this three-day course is designed for managers and supervisors wishing to develop knowledge of health and safety issues in the workplace and the legislation and regulations relating to maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.

This course will highlight common hazards and effective control measures. It will help you work more safely and be more aware of how your own actions can affect the health and safety of others, and will enable you to contribute meaningfully to any occupational health and safety management systems which offer transferability to other jobs.

You will also learn about risk profiling and its contribution to health and safety, incident reporting and emergency procedures.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • Planning
  • Risk Profiling
  • Work-related injuries, hazards and controls
  • Work-related ill health, hazards and controls

IOSH – Managing Safely

Delivered through the Dorset Training Academy, this three-day course is designed to give managers and supervisors an understanding of everyone’s responsibilities in the workplace, enabling them to recognise how the can influence, control and monitor risk to help improve health and safety issues within their workplace.

It includes the following:

  • Introducing managing safely
  • Assessing risks
  • Controlling risks
  • Understanding responsibilities
  • Understanding hazards
  • Investigating incidents
  • Measuring performance

Manual Handling Awareness

Cost – £45

This half day course provides basic training in the manual handling of inanimate objects, which is a skill that has almost universal applications in any workplace. To have training in this skill provides insurance regarding manual handling for any employee in a situation where such a task is required.

Manual Handling Course (Principles and Practice)

Cost – £70

The risks arising from manual handling have been recognised by the Health and Safety Executive for many years, as evidenced in their regulations and advisory activities promoting good practice.

The Regulations require employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training – supplemented, as necessary, with more specific information and training on manual handling injury risks and prevention.

This one-day course provides an ideal approach to safer and more effective manual handling that meet these HSE recommendations, but also promote good and safe practices in any situation.
