This is a part time course available to mature students to study the next level of their hair qualification. Students studying this course will work as a hairdresser in the College salon, which is open to the public, and also have the opportunity to work in a selected salon in the area for a variety of work experience. The course benefits from a part time timetable that allows students to continue to manage family or work commitments. Learners are required to have high levels of customer services and dedication and commitment to the course. Participation in local and regional competitions is expected and trips to the Salon International exhibition is highly recommended.
Entry Requirements
Level 3 Candidates must have achieved NVQ/VRQ at Merit profile in Level 2 Hairdressing or have a minimum of five years apprenticeship or stylist experience. Selection will be based on interview and successful completion of a trade test (at Merit level) . All students must have good punctuality, a good attendance level and positive attitude to vocational area. (Merit profile at Level 2 VRQ is achieved by completing the following units at a minimum merit level; Unit 203, Unit 206, Unit 207, and Unit 209).

How will I be assessed?
This will be carried out throughout the course by exams, assignments and practical observations
Uniform/Kit
Uniform – Black tunic and tailored black trousers – approximately £40
Kit – This will include all the tools and equipment you need for the course – approximately £360
Level 3 will need to purchase a ‘top-up’ kit *Cost of kit and uniform to be confirmed at interview*
