An Accounts or Finance Assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within an organisation. This Apprenticeship delivers a solid foundation in finance administration and core accounting skills, including double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing and an understanding of purchase, sales and general ledgers. Apprentices will also learn about accountancy related business and personal skills and be introduced to the four key themes embedded in the qualification: ethics, technology, communications and sustainability.

Entry Requirements

GSCE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.

A work placement must be in place before an apprenticeship can begin, this can be found by either yourself and/or Weymouth College.

Duration

Typically 12 months + 3 months EPA

Course Information

You will attend college one day a week and work towards:

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting

  • Functional Skills Maths Level 2
  • Functional Skills English Level 2
  • Unless you have exemptions (Grade 4 or above Maths and English)

You will complete training to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) outlined in this apprenticeship’s standard.

Tools/Materials/Books

You will be advised on textbooks and resources to support your study.

Progression

Upon completion of Level 2 Accountant Assistant standard apprenticeship there would be opportunity to progress onto the Level 3 standard apprenticeship.
