The South West’s exciting centre for professional industry experience and study in the performing arts. Bay Studios is a dynamic, vibrant and above all, highly creative place to study music, music technology, dance, acting and musical theatre. With access to incredible industry-standard specialist facilities – including a 220 seat campus-based theatre, a range of technical studios and fully-equipped work spaces – you will become part of a performance company, developing essential professional skills and producing fully mounted gigs and productions here at the studios and at other venues across the South West. Whether you are looking for a career in live performance, composition, theatre, dance or music recording, the Bay Studios staff will expertly guide you towards your goal.
This is for you if… you are creative, dedicated, enthusiastic, enjoy entertaining others, have a talent and a driving ambition and determination to work in music or performance. In order to succeed in this highly competitive industry you need to have real passion and dedication to your art.
Air 107.2 FM student takeover
The 2nd year music technology students presented their final work as a radio show on local community radio station Air 107.2fm. For 2 hours they played the music they had created for their final major project, interviewed each other, spoke about their inspiration and production methods, played influential tracks and capped it all off with a 2 hour live DJ mix. They also had to design and run a promotion and marketing campaign, which worked – the station manager reported that listener figures had more than trebled for their show – as a result of this, they have been offered a regular peak time Saturday night slot!
Former Performing Arts student stars in Firebird
Former Performing Arts student Tom Prior recently starred in and co-produced the film Firebird. Set in the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War, Firebird tells the true story of a love affair between a conscript and a fighter pilot, who fight to remain together despite the dangers. Tom has previously appeared in films including Kingsman: The Secret Service as well as the Oscar-nominated The Theory of Everything.
