Air 107.2 FM student takeover
Weymouth College’s 2nd year music technology students presented their final work as a radio show on local community radio station Air 107.2fm.
For two hours they played the music they had created for their final major project, interviewed each other, spoke about their inspiration and production methods, played influential tracks and capped it all off with a two-hour live DJ mix.
They also had to design and run a promotion and marketing campaign, which worked – the station manager reported that listener figures had more than trebled for their show – as a result of this, they have been offered a regular peak time Saturday night slot!
Former Performing Arts student stars in Firebird
Former Weymouth College Performing Arts student Tom Prior recently starred in and co-produced the film Firebird. Set in the Soviet Union during the height of the Cold War, Firebird tells the true story of a love affair between a conscript and a fighter pilot, who fight to remain together despite the dangers. Tom has previously appeared in films including Kingsman: The Secret Service as well as the Oscar-nominated The Theory of Everything.
