Legendary guitarist Robbie McIntosh, who has played with the likes of The Pretenders and Sir Paul McCartney – is bringing his band to Weymouth this spring.

The Robbie McIntosh band will be performing at The Bay Theatre at Weymouth College on Thursday 23rd May.

McIntosh has one of the highest musical pedigrees you’ll find anywhere on the planet and holds legendary status among his fellow musicians.

His career to date includes spells as guitarist with The Pretenders, with whom he played at the iconic Live Aid gig in 1985, as well as with Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Tom Jones, John Mayer and Norah Jones.

His brilliance across a range of music, both on acoustic and electric guitar, has made him one of the world’s most sought-after session guitarists, playing on recordings by Tears For Fears, Paul Young, Roger Daltrey, Mark Knopfler, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Sir Paul McCartney, Cher, George Martin, Joe Cocker, Daryl Hall, Kirsty McColl, Mike and the Mechanics, Tori Amos and many more.

He continues to tour and record with many of the most famous names in music.

As well as being a talented multi-instrumentalist, Robbie is an accomplished a singer songwriter in his own right.

His band features Steve Smith (keyboards and vocals), Steve Wilson (bass and vocals), Pete Hope Evans (harmonicas), Paul Beavis (drums), Jody Linscott (percussion) and Hannah Robinson (guitars and vocals).

Between them, the band members have played with artists including The Waterboys, Andy Summers, Go West, Sir Elton John, Santana, The Who, Robert Fripp, Leo Sayer, Rory Gallagher, Lisa Stansfield, Mark Knopfler, Stevie Wonder, Lana Del Ray, Kylie Minogue and Jay Z.

Expect a set of sophisticated blues-influenced originals and cover versions from world-class professionals that will bound to have you up dancing.

Weymouth College’s music students will present a complimentary set of cover versions and originals at this event.
