Supporting Your Family’s Numeracy – GCSE Preparation
Fully Funded Multiply Course
These flexible sessions delivered online and face to face will help to increase parents and guardians’ confidence in helping your children with their maths homework. Content will include some basic numeracy skills as well as introducing you to teaching methods that match the way in which your children are learning maths in school, both primary and secondary.
Course Content
This course is designed for parents of secondary age children who would like to boost their confidence with number and maths and learn how to support their children as they prepare for GCSE Maths exams.
During this course you will learn skills and techniques to use numeracy in a range of family and household situations, helping you to refresh your own knowledge and develop additional confidence and skills to support your child taking GCSE maths.
- Useful numeracy skills
- Numeracy in the home (e.g. puzzles, budgets, travel and shopping)
- How numeracy and maths is taught in school
- GCSE Maths
- What will your child be doing in GCSE Maths
- How to support your child in GCSE Maths
- Review and next steps
If you are aged over 19, live in the Dorset Council area and don’t currently have a GCSE grade C or equivalent, then you will be able to join us and take part in Multiply.
