ESOL Entry 1 – 3

This is a basic English course that develops your skills from Elementary (Entry 1) to Intermediate Level (Entry 3).

Assessment

Successful students will receive a Certificate in Edexcel ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) QCF

This is not recognised by the UKVI for Visa applications but is a great way of demonstrating your level of English for employers and moving on to higher level ESOL  or GCSE English.

Entry requirements

This course is for students whose skills are assessed to be between Entry 1 and Level 3. The student will have an initial assessment.

How long is the course?

This course can be studied in 2 different ways.

  • 6.75 hours per week (108 hours per course) 16 weeks (3 sessions a week)
  • 4.5 hours per week (75 hours per course) 16 weeks (Wed and Thurs evenings)

Courses run from Sept – Jan  and  Feb – June

ESOL – Skills for Life Level 1 and 2

This is an upper intermediate (Level 1) to advanced (Level 2) English course.  Level 2 is equivalent to GCSE grade A-C in English.  Both certificates Level 1 and Level 2 are a great way to demonstrate your level to employers or to progress on to other Level 2 or 3 college courses/ GCSEs/ AS Level or IELTS for university entrance.

Successful students will receive a Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life

This is not recognised by the UKVI for Visa applications.

IELTS Preparation course

This course is aimed at students who require IELTS for study visa applications or entrance to University.  It develops your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills so you can reach your potential in an IELTS exam.

Assessment

Students are required to attend Richard Language College (Bournemouth) or Mayflower College (Exeter) to do their exam.  Exam fees are not included in the cost of this course.

Entry requirements

Students are expected to be a minimum of Entry 3 ESOL level or 4.5 IELTS.

How long is the course?

This course can be studied in 2 different ways.

  • 3 hours per week (30 hours per term) 10 weeks (Tuesdays 1-4pm)
