Engineering Pathway
From September 2021 we are launching our new pathways routes in Business, Engineering and Sport. These pathways are designed specifically to provide you with the academic and vocational skills you need to thrive in the workplace or at university.
If a career in Engineering is where you want to be in the future, then why not start at Weymouth College Sixth Form. In 2021 we are opening the Engineering Centre of Excellence on our campus. This pathway will combine Engineering Principles, Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team with A Level Maths and Physics.
Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-5 plus a minimum Grade 7 (A) in Maths as well as Grade 6 (B) in Double Award Science or Grade 6 (B) in Physics.
Course Content
Year 1 – Certificate
Unit 1 Engineering Principles (external assessment)
Unit 2 Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team
Year 2 – Extended Certificate
Unit 3 Engineering Product Design and Manufacture (external assessment)
Plus one optional unit (TBC after year 1)
Fees
If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
