In Short
Are you interested in a career in business? Not sure about which area would suit you best? This course is designed to give you an overview of the different activities which contribute to the success of a business, e.g. marketing, HR and customer service. You will also gain essential knowledge about setting up your own business – planning, promoting and financing.
Entry Requirements
Successful interview plus one of the following:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 (D) or equivalent including maths and English
- related Level 1 or Foundation Certificate
- related work experience.
Course Content
You will study an exciting range of topics giving you a great insight into a varied range of Business areas and a wonderful grounding to move onto the level 3 Business qualifications. Units may include:
Business Purposes, Customer Relations in Business, Business Online, Business Ethics, Business Organisations, Financial Forecasting for Business, People in Organisations, The Marketing Plan, Business Communication Through Documentation and Personal Selling.
How will I be assessed?
A combination of externally-set tests and internally-set coursework.
Progression
Successful completion can lead on to a Modern Apprenticeship, higher level study or employment.
Tools/Materials/Books
The College library has an extensive lending and reference book stock, in addition to videos and journals. You will need to provide your own stationery and any items such as memory sticks that you may require.
Fees
If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds – There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
