Beauty Therapy Diploma (L3)

Level 3 candidates must have a Level 2 VRQ Beauty theory. Selection will be based on interview, successful completion of a trade test (at Merit level) and 60% pass rate in theory exam.  All students must have good punctuality, a good attendance level,  positive attitude to vocational area and if required continue to work towards English and Maths at Grade 4.

You will study the following units:

• Monitor and maintain H&S practice
• Client care and communication in Beauty related industries
• Working in beauty related industries
• Provide body electrotherapy treatments
• Provide facial electrotherapy treatments
• Provide body massage treatments
• Apply individual permanent lashes
• Contribute to the effective running of a business
• Provide Indian Head Massage
• Apply Microdermabrasion 

As part of your qualification you will also undertake five days external work experience in a local salon. Staff can support you in finding placements, completion of work experience is a requirement of your course assessment criteria.

You will be continually assessed throughout the course using:

• Appraisal of practical competence
• Oral assessment
• Written tests
• Portfolio work
• Assignments

Additional training in beauty or management can lead to opportunities in specialist salons or as industry consultants.

The College library has an extensive lending and reference book stock, in addition to videos and journals. Specific books will be advised nearer the time of study. You should set aside approximately £200 for equipment plus correct footwear and uniform. You will also need to supply materials including tissues, cotton wool pads, cotton buds and spatulas.

If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases.
