Welcome to Weymouth College
Weymouth College is an ambitious college heading for outstanding. We are proud to be high performing yet inclusive and accessible in our approach. We challenge and inspire enquiring minds with academic and skills-based courses and produce some remarkable results. We’re home to the best stone masonry courses in the UK and our alumni include an Oscar winner and a celebrity chef. We attract over 7000 students from across the region and have the privilege to be located on Dorset’s spectacular Jurassic Coast, which is England’s first natural heritage site, and the venue for sailing events at the 2012 Olympics.
Stonemasonry students from Weymouth College have won places to take part in this year’s UK Masonry Skills Challenge. The students will participate in two heats, one on 6th May at City of Bath College and the other on 21st May at Edinburgh College with the following prizes up for grabs:
1st Prize a cheque for £300
2nd Prize a cheque for £200
3rd Prize a cheque for £100.
All the best of luck to the following students:
“The Farndale Avenue Dramatic Society welcomes you to its thrilling (some would say original in the extreme!) production of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy ‘The Scottish Play!’ (we use ‘The Scottish Play’ instead of the play’s real title, as all you fellow thespians well know it’s terribly unlucky to print or even say ‘Macbeth’).
This production marks the fourteenth of what will (hopefully) be many more classics performed by the Farndale ladies, whose cast of seven bravely tackle the challenges of a play with over forty characters, most of which are men!
We are delighted to have with us our very special guest of honour, Me George Lemon. An accomplished man in the literary field, Mr Plum has come to judge our little play and we are hoping that (at last) this production will guarantee us a place in the drama finals held this year at (wait for it…) Welwyn Garden City.
Let’s hope that everything will go alright on the night this time, unlike our last production, when Romeo lost his tights and Julliet was rushed to casualty after a rather unfortunate fall in the famous balcolny scene…”
The Farndale Dramatic Society’s Production of Macbeth is the second full length play to be performed by Freshly Squeezed Theatre (Weymouth College’s Foundation Degree in Actor Training student company), whose previous show ‘Lost in Transmission’, a devised piece based on the life of Amelia Earhart, received well-deserved acclaim in January 2015.
This amateur production of “Farndale Avenue…Macbeth” is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, LTD
