Transport
The College offers extensive transport opportunities enabling students to conveniently travel to College. There are two transport options available, public transport, and coach transport provided by Zeelo which covers East and North Dorset. Our public bus passes cover the full academic year, 7 days a week, including non-college related travel, for students who live more than five miles from the College.
Public routes of travel to Weymouth campus
There are train links between Yeovil and Weymouth, and Bournemouth & Poole and Weymouth, there are also various public bus routes that cover the surrounding area. The college subsidises the cost of public bus tickets for those that live 5 miles or further from the Weymouth campus. These bus passes will cover 11 months of travel, please see the table below for information regarding cost. and the 25/26 costs of a First bus pass will be £697 for a student 11 – month Weymouth Plus pass and £853 for a student 11- month Dorset pass. Please note these fees are non refundable and must be paid in full. Instalment plans are not available for public transport, however you may be eligible for support from the College bursary fund.
Student Transport provided by Zeelo
In relation to all Kingston Maurward campus routes and the Swanage and Dewlish/Cheselbourne Weymouth campus routes, we are delighted to announce that for the 2025-2026 college year we will be upgrading the home-to-college bus service, powered by smart transportation company, Zeelo. The team from our current providers, Kura, joined Zeelo in February 2024 and have spent the last year working to ensure the transport processes move over seamlessly and provide improved services and technology for you and your young person.
Zeelo provides bus services and technology for organisations across the country. The Zeelo app and booking page provide great features and a streamlined look and feel, such as service tracking, plus boarding and alighting notifications, updates in relation to live service will also be communicated via the Zeelo app. The Zeelo team will be available to support you during the booking process and live service hours should you have any questions.
Bookings for the home-to-college service will open during enrolment. After successfully enrolling, you will receive an email invitation to the Zeelo transport booking page, Zeelo will provide all the information you need to create your account and purchase your seat on your preferred route. Annual tickets are £1,170. Payment is made via the Zeelo booking system at the point of purchase, instalment plans are available from Zeelo to support transport payments, there is no fee for transport instalment plan. All payments in relation to the Zeelo bus routes are facilitated by Zeelo.
If you are the parent or carer of a returning student the app and website you use for information and tracking of the service will change. The Zeelo technology provides enhanced data for the support team – enabling Zeelo and the college to make improvements and monitor your service more closely and more efficiently.

Weymouth Campus car park
The College has a large on-campus car park with overflow spaces available in the Lodmoor public car park.
Parking in our car park and the Lodmoor car park requires a valid permit. These can be obtained free of charge by completing the application available at the following link: Apply for a Weymouth Campus parking permit

Please note, that the college offers the bus service bookings on a first come first served basis. Although the College will do its utmost to accommodate all requests for use of the service, the College has no obligation to increase capacity on any route.
Parents/guardians accept that bookings are for the entire College year.
Journeys booked but not taken are non-refundable. Any journey cancelled, ad hoc, via the App, will not reduce the amount charged. Cancellations must be made in line with the cancellation policy set out below.
Any amendments to students’ journeys should be emailed to transport@kmc.ac.uk, Weymouth and Kingston Maurward College will to their utmost to accommodate amendments where possible, please allow up to 5 working days for any amendments to be processed.
Parents/guardians wishing to withdraw their young person from the service entirely, must provide notice at the earliest opportunity by email to transport@kmc.ac.uk
If a student no longer requires transport mid month, refunds will be calculated from the end of the month. Refunds will only be awarded for any full months remaining. No refunds will be awarded prior to the Christmas break or after April.
Students who wish to travel on more than one route will be accommodated at the College’s discretion and only where capacity allows.
Use of the service
Passengers are advised that they need to be at stops 5 minutes before the advertised time.
Students must ensure they travel on the route for which they are registered for, any attempts to travel on other routes will be declined.
Students must carry their student ID pass when travelling.
Parents/guardians are asked to remind their young person that when travelling on the College buses they remain bound by the College’s Behaviour Policy and Transport Code of conduct.
Changes to use of the service
The College reserves the right to make route alterations after publication but will provide notice of any such action.
Charges in relation to Zeelo routes
The 25/26 cost for Zeelo transport will be £1700 per year, this amount is prior to any reduction as a result of a bursary award. Where a bursary is awarded a one use discount code will be issuesd, which can be shared with Zeelo for a reduction in transport fee. Please note this charge is applicable even if you only use the bus one way. If paying via instalments an initial payment must be made prior to travel.
