Sport Pathway
From September 2021 we are launching our new pathways routes in Business, Engineering and Sport. These pathways are designed specifically to provide you with the academic and vocational skills you need to thrive in the workplace or at university.
Weymouth College has been outstanding for Sport since 2015 and has also won a prestigious beacon award. So, if you are a keen sports person with a desire to be part of a £39 billion industry, then this pathway is for you. Students will study A Level Biology and Psychology alongside Anatomy and Physiology and Practical Sports Performance.
Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-5 including English and Grade 6 (B) in Maths, as well as either Grade 66 (BB) in Double Award Science or 6 (B) in Biology.
Course Content
Year 1 – Certificate
Unit 1 – Anatomy and Physiology (external assessment)
Unit 7 – Practical Sports Performance
Year 2 – Extended Certificate
Unit 2 – Fitness Training & Programming for Health, Sport & Well-being (external assessment)
Unit 3 – Professional Development in the Sports Industry
Fees
If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
