Apprenticeships
“At Dorset Council one of our goals and commitments is to develop our employees to help make Dorset a great place to live, work and visit. One of the ways we do this is by utilising our apprenticeship levy to access apprenticeship opportunities for our employees. Apprenticeships are a great way to upskill and develop existing employees which in-turn develops our organisation and skills, ensuring we have the skills and knowledge needed for the future. It also provides great opportunities for new employees to learn about our organisation whilst gaining a professional qualification.
We work in partnership with Weymouth College who deliver a number of apprenticeships for us such as Business Administration and AAT. As a forward thinking, flexible organisation we are always looking at new and different ways of doing things and we work in partnership with Weymouth College to ensure we have the right delivery model for our organisation enabling our employees to get the most out of their apprenticeship.”
“Andrew has been great at helping me through this course and I feel as though he will continue to do so. I have learnt so much already in such a short amount of time. I have a lot of support available to me at college and work, which is greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend being an apprentice to anyone at any age. Being an apprentice is great as you learn valuable experience and skills, whilst getting paid to do so. I have enjoyed my time so far of being an apprentice and hopefully continue too. I can’t wait to learn more skills and knowledge from Andrew and the lectures at college, I really can’t thank them enough for everything they have taught me. I still have a lot to learn and I can’t wait to be a qualified carpenter one day.” Ben, Carpentry Apprentice
