Principal and CEO

Following a first posting as an Administrative Officer at the MOD, Julia made her move into the education arena taking up a position at Kingston University. This new role and a subsequent appointment to Kingston College in 1990 saw the start of a career in FE Education which has – to date – spanned over 30 years.

Julia joined Weymouth College in 2013 assuming responsibility for Funding, MIS and latterly Performance. Julia acted as nominee for the College’s Ofsted Inspection in 2015 – with the College achieving a first Grade 2 – and again at a subsequent short inspection in 2019 when the Grade 2 was reconfirmed.

Julia was appointed Assistant Principal in 2016, Interim Principal in January 2021 and confirmed as Principal and CEO in September 2021.

Julia has taken responsibility for many curriculum and support areas throughout her career taking the lead at operational, management and strategic levels and recently completed an MBA in Further Education Management at Kings College, London.

Her range of experience gives a truly holistic overview of the Further Education model and supports her resilience, adaptability and unending enthusiasm for this ever changing sector. Her aim remains to make a positive difference to students, colleagues, business partners, our community and our College.

Kelly Bush

Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality

With a BSc (Hons) in Sports Science, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education – and experience of working for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in both the UK and Australia – Kelly joined Weymouth College as a lecturer in Sport and Public Services in 2005.

A team player with excellent leadership and management skills, Kelly has experience of secondary education as a Governor, and has progressed within the College setting – with a range of middle and senior leadership roles including Head and Director of School, Director of Faculty, Director of Curriculum and Assistant Principal – to his current role as Vice Principal Curriculum and Quality.

The sharing of best practice has been an important driver during his time within the organisation and the delivery of a high-quality curriculum which inspires and develops both students and staff has been a key focus for Kelly throughout his tenure at Weymouth College.

Phil Templeton

Phil Templeton

Vice Principal Funding, Systems and Operations.

With a heavily technical education bias specialising in software and systems development, as well as electrical and electronic engineering, Phil studied in Bournemouth before completing an HND in Computing at Southampton Institute (now Solent University). Phil started his career in retail management before progressing to the education sector.

Phil has over 20 years’ experience at Weymouth College bringing together management information, funding, data and IT services within bespoke systems to drive efficiency and automation within college operations.

This technical expertise is equally applied to facilities and estate management and structured leadership and college process, ensuring that – through continuous analysis and improvement – the student experience remains both positive and impactful and of value to the local area and beyond.

Rob Cole

Educated in Dorchester, Rob studied at both Southampton and Bristol universities and completed his MBA in Business Administration in 2011 (with Northampton University) whilst heading up the Finance and Business Team at Wey Valley School.

Rob has a passion for finance and project management evidenced by a career spanning over 20 years in the field – including over 10 years in local government with a treasury and children’s services portfolio – and joined Weymouth College in 2019.

Rob champions lifelong learning - and its importance in professional and personal development – positive and supportive staff working relations and ‘reducing administration for the sake of administration’.

A keen cricketer – Rob plays in the Dorset Premier League and captains the St George’s Evening League team.
