This Apprenticeship is for people who want to work in Stonemasonry industry or heritage sector. It provides practical experience during which you will be learning to prepare for the job, theoretically lessons are given in subjects in architecture, setting out and producing architectural stone work by hand. The course will provide you with a broad knowledge, understanding and skills training to become qualified Stonemason. You will be able to work as a Banker/Fixer Mason to produce tailored work to a high standard for new & heritage projects.

Entry Requirements

GSCE Grade C/4 or above in English & Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in English & Maths. Functional Skills English & Maths can be completed during the apprenticeship if required and upon successful completion of initial assessment. Applicants will also be assessed individually for suitability. Completion of Intermediate Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations. Work placement must be in-situ before the apprenticeship starts. This can be found by either yourself and/or Weymouth College.

The qualifications you will be working towards for achievement are:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Stonemasonry
  • Level 3 Diploma in Stonemasonry – Banker
  • Functional Skill Maths Level 2
  • Functional Skill English Level 2
