The qualifications covered in this apprenticeship allow a very wide choice of subjects, but the focus is on hardware and software support and system maintenance. Customer service, technical communication, systems architecture, fault diagnosis, hardware & equipment maintenance and software installation are common choices but programming and data modelling options are also available depending on your job role. At level 3, you will be expected to take significant responsibility for your choice of approach and methodology and, by the end of your apprenticeship, be able to work with minimum supervision.

Entry Requirements

GSCE Grade C/4 or above in English, Maths & ICT or Functional Skills Level 2 in English, Maths & ICT. Functional Skills English, Maths & ICT can be completed during the apprenticeship if required and upon successful completion of initial assessment. Applicants will also be assessed individually for suitability. For direct entry to Level 3, you will need a relevant Level 2 qualification. Work placement must be in-situ before the apprenticeship starts. This can be found by either yourself and/or Weymouth College.

  • Functional Skill ICT Level 2
  • Functional Skill Maths Level 2
  • Functional Skill English Level 2

Progression

Progression to a higher apprenticeship or career progression in IT support, hardware or network services.
