Building Emotional Resilience

Cost – £45 

Delivered through the Dorset Training Academy, this 3-hour course is designed to provide staff with practical tools which can be used within the workplace to improve emotional regulation, provide safe outlets for stress, improve relationships and develop mental clarity. 

Mental health impacts on an employee’s physical health, work motivation, loyalty and productivity.  Evidence suggests that 12.7% of all sickness days in the UK are attributable to mental health.  Providing Emotional Resilience training to employees has a direct impact on their ability to cope well with stress.  By investing in this training, employers can boost company morale, reduce absenteeism and ultimately increase bottom line profit.  It is estimated that in the UK alone, better mental health support could save businesses up to £8 billion per annum.

By the end of this course you will be able to:

  • Define the term ‘Emotional Resilience’.
  • Identify the building blocks of ER.
  • State the key elements of the stress mechanism.
  • Assess own ER and identify areas for development.
  • Use and evaluate a range of ER techniques.
  • Create a personal ER action plan.

A maximum of 15 students are allowed on all training sessions and there is no exam at the end of the course. Successful completion of course is based on continual assessment throughout the duration of the course and Weymouth College certificates will be distributed within 10 working days of the end of the course.

Research indicates that the practices of mindfulness and meditation have a wide range of positive effects on both physical and mental wellbeing.  The NHS describes mindfulness as an ‘evidence-based’ intervention for mental health.  The increased cognitive performance and emotional regulation provided by mindfulness and meditation have become widely recognised as essential tools for the workplace.
