This qualification is suitable for those who require GCSE Science in order to enrol on a teaching qualification.
Entry Requirements
C grade or above in either GCSE Maths or GCSE English Language. A willingness to put in 2-3 hours study at home per week, along with high attendance and commitment on the course.
How will I be assessed?
Foundation and Higher Tier. 1st exam paper. Topics 1–4: Cell biology; Organisation; Infection and response; and Bioenergetics. Written exam: 1 hour 45 minutes. Multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response. 2nd exam paper. Topics 5–7: Homeostasis and response; Inheritance, variation and evolution; and Ecology. Written exam: 1 hour 45 minutes. Multiple choice, structured, closed short answer and open response. Each exam paper is worth 50% of your overall grade.
