Set in the magnificent setting of Poundbury, the Dorset Centre for the Creative Arts offers a unique learning experience for those interested in the creative arts. Taught by industry experts including artists and craft specialists, the centre offers masterclasses and specialist qualifications with an opportunity to develop creative skills and knowledge in a relaxed environment.

The Dorset Centre for the Creative Arts enables students to build their confidence through a variety of different masterclasses. From ceramics to counselling, to life drawing and stone carving many people use our masterclasses for professional development. There are no formal entry requirements and they provide scope to develop skills both personally and professionally.

The Centre also delivers specialist stonemasonry qualifications and has specialist stonemasonry equipment, and many large classrooms with state-of-the-art IT facilities, a separate IT suite and a café.

There are also conference facilities available for hire to local businesses with catering facilities and plenty of free parking, please contact the Centre for further details.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) statement updated 25th March 2020

With regard to Coronavirus, the College and DCCA are following guidance from Public Health England (PHE) and other national agencies. As you are aware following the Prime Minister’s briefing on Sunday, we took further steps to keep both staff and our students safe during a time when we all have to minimise travelling and the risk of transmitting this virus and DCCA is now closed for all courses for the duration of the current crisis. You will understand that in these unprecedented times refunding monies paid for bookings or courses will take longer than might have been the case in the past. We appreciate your patience and understanding as DCCA staff, Weymouth College and their Finance team work in very difficult circumstances to process the very high volume of requests for refunds. We will be in touch with you as soon as we are able. These requests – although of course understandable – will unfortunately have a heavy negative impact on the centre’s cashflow and potential future. If any of our new or returning students feel able to ‘roll over’ their paid course fees to the next available course start date that would greatly relieve the current pressure on our staff and offer very positive support for the future of DCCA. For those of you who have left ongoing projects at the centre, e.g. Pottery, Lino prints, book binding, can we assure you they will be put away safely. May I say again – in these really difficult times, a HUGE thank you to all our students and staff for your support and patience. We wish you all the very best, keep well, and we hope to see you again very soon. Our updates will be on our website on the NEWS tab, and our Facebook page. Any queries, please email me direct
