This is for you if… you want a career in which you will make a difference to people. If you’re the type of person who gains an enormous sense of personal achievement by making a positive difference to people’s lives, this could be the sector for you. And a career in social care offers long-term employment prospects, with great opportunities for promotion and progression.
There is a huge demand for qualified carers both locally and nationally. The majority of those gaining employment at the end of the course got jobs in local schools or nurseries. Getting a qualification is absolutely essential if you want to look after children for a career. With a CACHE qualification you will be able to work in the childcare sector, move into an Apprenticeship or progress onto further education.
There are many employment routes, for example you could be a childminder, work in a nursery, become a nanny or classroom assistant – or virtually any role involving caring for children. The Diploma in Child Care and Education qualification is nationally recognised as the qualification of choice for the care of children in private homes, schools including special schools, day and residential nurseries, hospitals, family centres and maternity units. Students who completed this course went on to work in childcare and education at companies such as Wyvern Primary School, Scallywags Nursery and work as private nannies.
A Level 1 or 2 qualification in Health & Social Care is designed to enable you to enter employment at a trainee level. The Level 3 qualification allows you to progress into employment, continue training in the workplace, or move on to university for training in nursing, social work, and other related professions. Previous students have gained places on courses such as BA (Hons) Community Work at institutions such as Bournemouth University.
