Jelly Babies Day Nursery
The College has a day nursery which is based on campus and is open to children aged from three months to five years.Who runs the Nursery?
It is run by fully qualified staff and offers excellent facilities in a happy, secure and educationally stimulating environment.
What do they learn?
The nursery works alongside the Early Years Foundation Stage, which consists of the following themes:- Enabling environments
- A unique child
- Positive relationships
- Learning and development.
Jelly Good 20 years of Fun!
Over 150 former Jelly Babies friends and family attended the nursery’s 20th anniversary party for fun and frolics, on Saturday 25th August at Weymouth College. Activities included a bouncy castle, entertainment from Captain Stupid, name the bear, a raffle, and yummy food and music from ‘Deep Fried Bananas.’
Nursery Supervisor, Nicky Randell, welcomed everyone who had attended to the party: “Looking at the photos of the years gone by has been lovely. The ever-changing hair styles have made us laugh; but it’s been lovely remembering all the good times. So many children have grown up and are making lives of their own now.”
Nicky continued: “The success of Jelly Babies always has and always will be down to an amazing team. The current staff are absolutely brilliant and this has been recognised over the last year by Ofsted who awarded Jelly Babies with an ‘Outstanding Ofsted grade. We are all very proud of this achievement and plan to continue to grow, develop and create exciting opportunities for the children to play and learn in an outstanding provision. Here’s to the next 20 Years!”
The Ofsted report stated: "Staff at Jelly Babies demonstrate an exceptional commitment to working in partnership with parents and provide comprehensive opportunities for parents to become involved in the life of the nursery. The manager and professional staff team provide an environment which is not only welcoming to children but encourages children to explore the interesting and exciting activities on offer. All staff have an excellent understanding of their responsibility to safeguard children and do so effectively."
Special thanks went to Deep Fried Bananas for providing a fantastic musical atmosphere free of charge for the party and to Brian, Captain Stupid, for providing colourful magic, balloon modelling and glove puppetry.

Gleaming OFSTED Report in 2011
Jelly Babies Day Nursery was awarded a Grade 1 Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted inspectors.
Nicky Randell, Nursery Supervisor said: "We are absolutely over the moon that our hard work and dedication had been recognised by Ofsted. High quality education and care is important to us and we will continue to work to a high standard to offer an outstanding nursery service to the students, staff and the local community."
To achieve an overall Grade 1 the education establishment must obtain a Grade 1 in all the following areas: the effectiveness of leadership and management; the quality of the provision; and the outcomes (achievements) of the children.
