Former student Awarded Bursary for Nursing Degree

In August 2012, former Health & Social Care student at Weymouth College Rachael Goulding was awarded a bursary from the Helena Kennedy Foundation for her application to study nursing at the University of Southampton.

Health & Social Care Lecturer, Jo Smark-Richards said: "Rachael is a hardworking student who thoroughly deserves this award. She will be an asset to the nursing profession."

Studying for a Second Career

Carol Noble enrolled on the CACHE Childcare and Education Level 2 in 2009 at the age of 50. Before starting this course at Weymouth College, Carol held the CSE, Clait, Special Need Induction and was staying at home being a full-time mum.

Carol chose the College because of its locality and said: "I have always wanted to work in a school helping children who struggle to learn." She has completed her Level 2 and has now moved on to Year 1 of her Level 3. After finishing her course Carol hopes to go into a school and help children who struggle with their learning.

Carol says of her course and the College: "I find the course very interesting and love the opportunity you get to do work placements at different childcare settings with a different age range of children. The facilities are really good, the library is good and the staff are helpful, they are easy to approach and will help you with any question you may have. I would highly recommend this course to other people."
