Apprentice offered full-time position at The College
Aaron Rose was offered an Apprenticeship at Weymouth College as he neared the end of his BTEC National Diploma in System Support.
"I was offered the Apprenticeship in the Information Communication Services (ICS) department at Weymouth College by my tutor as I neared the end of my BTEC course. So far I have learnt so much from my time as a technician working with the lecturers and their classes, and have also really enjoyed working with the ICS team and learning new skills from those with experience."
"A permanent position came up at the College, providing first line support for staff and students, so I applied and was successful! I am now enjoying working with the ICS team and all of the staff and students in the College as a full-time permanent member of staff."
Phil Templeton, ICS Manager at the College, has really valued the support of an Apprentice: "Aaron has just come to the end of his Apprenticeship in the ICS department and has been a fantastic asset to the team. When Aaron started his Apprenticeship with us, he had recently completed a BTEC Systems Support qualification at Weymouth College, and from this had developed good skills and knowledge regarding ICT support. He was able to integrate with the team extremely quickly, becoming a productive member of the team providing tier one support to college staff and students. Aaron also provided support within the system support classes to other students, helping them use and repair IT equipment as part of their learning. Because Aaron has also completed an A Level in Electronics, he brought some additional skills to the ICS team to carry out soldered repairs, which was an area where skills had previously been missing within the team."
