Stone Carving

Dates: 19 Jan - 2 March 2010; 6 Wks

Times: 6.30pm. - 8.30pm.

Day: Tuesday

Venue: Dorset Construction & Training Centre, Poundbury, Dorchester

Aim of course

  • To learn the basics of stone carving

Entry Requirements

No previous experience is necessary.  The course is suitable for both beginners and those with some experience.

Course Details/Content

You will be taught the skills necessary to prepare, set out and work a piece of stone.  Applications could include house numbering, bird baths or garden interest pieces.

Materials/Text Book Requirements

Suitable overalls and safety shooes are advisable.  All tools and equipment are provided.

Study Requirements

2-hour sessions per week.

Assessment/Examination Details

A College certificate will be issued on satisfactory completion of the course.

Please note, this course is dependant upon ALL students enrollling paying the full fee and it is therefore regrettable that no fee reductions are available.

Fees - All fees quoted are for British / EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA Country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain.  If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment.

Refund of fees will only be paid in the event the College cancels the course, or if you notify the College of your intention to withdraw from the course 2 weeks prior to the start date.

Rehabilitation of Offenders

Please note, to help us look after students and assess risks, you will be asked to declare any unspent criminal convictions when you apply to do a course at Weymouth College.
