Agincare Health and Social Care Academy launched at Weymouth College

October 25, 2016

Agincare and Weymouth College are pleased to announce the launch of a new training initiative – The Agincare Health and Social Care Academy.

The initiative will see Agincare and Weymouth College working in partnership to offer a wide range of clear pathways for a rewarding long-term ‘career in care’ for the students of Dorset.

Both Weymouth College and Agincare believe that a strong partnership between business and education is a key way forward in developing the very best career opportunities for the people of Dorset.

This sentiment was firmly endorsed by Richard Drax MP who was pleased to declare the Agincare Health and Social Care Academy officially open at a reception in the College’s HIX Academy on 21st October.

Raina Summerson, Group CEO at Agincare said: “As examples from job roles across our services show, social care is an immensely rewarding sector in which numerous and diverse career pathways can be pursued. The Agincare Health and Social Care Academy enables us to work with a key educational partner – Weymouth College – to inspire those working in care or looking to follow a career in care.”

Nigel Evans Principal of Weymouth College added : « There are lots of opportunities within the care sector in West Dorset offering a wealth of opportunity for health and social care students.  We are extremely pleased to be working with Agincare on the Academy which I firmly believe offers the innovation, enrichment and job creation possibilities so important to the economic future of quality social care services in Dorset.”

One student who has seen first-hand the importance of business and education working together to offer support and training is Agincare Business Administration apprentice Milli Threadwell:

“I think that companies like Agincare working together with colleges such as Weymouth can really positively help support and develop the learning experience.  As a student you really feel you are part of an experienced team from the beginning and that you are being actively trained for a future in a sector offering a great variety of career opportunities.”
